Hedgehog

A hedgehog appears against a rich pattern of flowers, based on the mille-fleurs tapestries. Hedgehogs are one of the UK’s most familiar wild animals. These mainly night time creatures feed on earthworms, beetles and slugs making them a gardeners best friend. They can be spotted in parks and gardens but they hibernate in winter amongst leaves or logs. For many years their numbers have been declining but creating insect rich habitats will help to provide the foods they rely on.
