Robin
With its bright red breast the robin is our most well known bird, especially at Christmas. The red breast is common to both adult male and female birds. Robins have a melodious warbling song which can be heard day and night often from strategic high perches. Robins are very territorial to other robins particularly during winter. They are often inquistive and friendly to gardeners at work hoping for a tasty worm or insect. The robin, often depicted with holly and snow, provides a colourful jolly image for Christmas cards.
