This design was based on the image from a memorial stone. The Viking ship was perhaps one of the greatest technical achievements of the European dark ages. These fast ships were strong enough to survive ocean crossings while also allowing navigation in very shallow water. Viking ships were not only as a means of transportation but they were a status symbol for the owner. They allowed the Vikings to embark on voyages of trading, raiding and exploration.
