Happy Hen
Staffordshire pottery hens, sitting proudly on their basket weave nests, were very popular in 19th century Britain and were exported all over the world. These painted pottery hens were often found in the Victorian kitchen with eggs stored in the dish beneath the hen. This terracotta Happy Hen is based upon a typical example.
