Dorset Hares
The hares in this form are thought to have travelled west along the Silk Route from China, where they have been found in 6th century cave temples. The symbol has been widely used over the centuries in Christian, Islamic & Buddhist contexts. The symbol is found in churches across Europe and this design is based on a medieval roof boss from
St. Hubert’s Church, Corfe Mullen in Dorset.
